 2009 50c Uncirculated Coin  40th Anniversary of the Moon Landing

Kennedy, 1961. Monday 21 July 1969 (AEST) was certainly the day mankind took its most famous giant leap, with six hundred million people watching Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the Moon. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first manned mission to land on the moon and the important role Australia played, we have created a crisp uncluttered design on the reverse of a 50c coin. As you view the design, the pad printed elements on one half of the coin gives the perspective of opposing skyscapes as though you are looking out the cockpit window of the orbiting Command Module. This inexpensive coin is an ideal gift to younger collectors and to those more experienced collectors with an affinity for the unusual.
